Today we took Chile to the vet on base and his quarantine is over! Unfortunately he still has to stay in the kennels since we don't have a place to live yet. He was sooo excited when we took him out of his kennel and left the building that it broke my heart to bring him back and leave him there. They moved him from the kennel that we left him in and when we saw a little cocker spaniel in his place I was convinced they gave him away to someone else. He was of course in the last kennel that we looked in and was probably watching us look for him the whole time. He was sooo excited when we saw him that he started crying! Anyways...the vet gave us a welcome to the island packet and to my dismay there is a scary snake that will go after animals and people. EEEK! This snake is called the Habu. They were described to us like rattlesnakes without the rattle. Instead of running away when they feel they are in danger they will attack. They are found in yards, trees, and bushes. There are three types...two are poisonous and one is not. The vet told us not to take our chances. OH MY GOODNESS!
